格雷格·卡农Greg Cannom，1951年出生，70年代开始了特效化妆师的职业。1977年的电影Hot Tomorrows 是他的第一次开始特效化妆，后来1978年电影It Lives Again ，他成为了Rick Baker的助手并且跟随前者学习更多的特效化妆技术。
一直到90年代之前，格雷格都在为各种恐怖片、B级片制作特效化妆，其中不乏像猛鬼街3、狼人、捉鬼小精灵、慑魄惊魂等经典电影。1991年的钩子船长是格雷格第一次作为特效化妆负责的电影，当年的奥斯卡上他也凭借此片得到了最佳特效化妆奖项的提名，也正是凭借他磨砺了十多年的特效化妆技术，终于让他一鸣惊人，开始在好莱坞崭露头角。
而真正开花结果的时刻，没有让他等待太久，第二年1992年的电影惊情四百年终于让他第一次拿到了小金人。他在片中为加里奥特曼制作的吸血鬼特效妆容让人记忆深刻。
在陆续为异形3、蝙蝠侠归来、变相怪杰等影片担任特效化妆后，又一部他的代表作上映了，继91年和罗宾威廉姆斯合作完钩子船长后，两人在电影窈窕奶爸中再一次合作，这次终于再次为格雷格拿下小金人。
1997年的泰坦尼克号中老年的露丝没有帮格雷格三度捧得小金人，只是为他获得了提名，而这一等就是十年，2008年凭借电影本杰明·巴顿奇事中为布拉德皮特制作的特效妆容，终于让格雷格完成了小金人的帽子戏法。
2019年的电影副总统中，格雷格使用特效化妆将贝尔变身成为一个老年人，这也是他最擅长的化妆技术，而最终电影也为他带来自己生涯中第四座奥斯卡特效化妆奖项。
